Scattering Fork holds FREE monthly events throughout 2025 that are open to the public:
Great American Backyard Bird Count -February 15 & 16th. At 8:30am each day, be a part of helping researchers collect bird data for the National Audobon Society. After the official count, create bird feeders and enjoy hot cocoa.
Sights, Sounds, and Smells of Spring -March 23, 2-4 pm. Enjoy the signs of Spring, like blossoming wildflowers, peeping baby frogs, and wild onions. Then, build your own compostable flowerpots with native wildflower seeds to take home.
Wild Flower Walks: April 27, 2-4 pm. Participants can learn how to identify Spring wildflowers, enjoy jellies made from violets and dandelions, and search for morel mushrooms.
Wild Edibles Seminar: May 18, 2-4 pm. Explore nature's pantry and discover wild edible plants around us. Identify some with medicinal qualities, then enjoy a tasting of a fresh wild salad.
National Trails Day -June 8, 2-4 pm. Take an afternoon to explore the 40 acres of woodlands on your own in celebration of this special day. Orienteering and map reading skills are also offered.
Stay Out of the Sun Day is July 8, 2-4 pm. Our woods feel 20-30 degrees cooler than direct sunlight! Immerse yourself in the natural beauty and rejuvenating effects of the woods. Learn about the forest canopy and enjoy making paper fans.
Unplug & Be and Outsider: August 10, 2-4 p.m. Join us for an outdoor experience designed to help you reconnect with nature, recharge your spirit, and rediscover the joys of life beyond technology. Participate in activities designed to help you tune into your surroundings and rediscover nature's perfect escape.
Grandparent's Day: September 7, 2-4pm. Honor Grandparents Day by spending quality time walking through the woods to find paw paws and collect items to create nature-themed crafts. A delightful way for multi-generational families to spend time together and collaborate on projects.
National Nut Day -October 19, 2-4pm. Experience the joy of foraging. Learn the variety of woodland nuts, their historical uses, and their vital role in sustaining wildlife and ecosystems. This includes a crafting session using collected nuts and leaves.
Leaf Shuffle and Tracking - November 2, 2-4pm. Follow a scenic forest trail blanketed with colorful autumn leaves and learn how to spot signs of wildlife while identifying the tracks of local creatures.

Need space for your own special event? Bring your group to Scattering Fork for meetings, parties, or workshops. The enclosed pavilion seats up to 40 people with rustic amenities.
